Merry __________!

I just wanted to wish all of you a very merry Taiwanese Constitution Day, from the bottom of my brain.

Truly, this day is one of the year's finest, with gift-giving and time well-spent with family and friends -- Or on your laptop early in the morning editing this soon-to-be-uploaded bad boy.  That's me, not you.

YOU are enjoying yourself, or at least you'd better be.  Seriously, you.

Winter Plans

Contrary to common sense -- which I'm not particularly a fan of -- I'm doing very little with videos over Winter Break.  At this stage, the proverbial You isn't too large a group, and I'm probably too hard on myself for wanting something different out of my online efforts.  Every time I'm slow to upload or putting together a shoddy episode I feel as though I'm letting someone down, even though it's never the editing or quality that people comment on.  It's me.  And those comments aren't too negative; Hell, they're pretty positive.  So I'm doing something right, clearly.  However, I want something new to do.

I've got an idea, though!  I mean it this time!  My interests are pretty diverse, and it's been hard nailing something down.  Gameplay commentary is exciting about an eighth of the time; the rest is rather monotonous and finicky.   I really wanted to do some sort of tutorial series, but it occurred to me that such efforts tend to benefit few -- that, and I'm going through the Quarter-Life Crisis wherein the pursuit of knowledge is just the sexiest damn thing I can imagine.  Other folks may not idolize the Jack of All Trades mindset so much.  After tutorials, I figured: Hey, I'm a great narrator.  How's about some story time, or discussion of controversial topics?  I honestly may still be interested in this path, but I wanted a big idea for now.  And I've got it, I think.  Not telling, though.  Sorry.

In other news, I enjoyed this past semester.  Beginning my trek towards a Computer & Information Science degree, and kickin' each classes' asses along the way.  I also started learning how to play the piano, which was a seriously enriching experience that I hope to stick with.  A JAVA object-oriented programming course straightened me out a bit regarding the language, and I might even prefer it to Python coding now, despite the difference in complexity.  A Mesoamerican Anthropology course reaffirmed my knowledge of Aztec and Mayan culture given to me by Age of Empires II, and an Introduction to Sociology course reminded me that, no matter how hard I try, I am statistically destined for sadness and stagnancy. Woo!

I won't stop until that voice in my head starts talking back to me, and I will bond with you like a British spy.

Captain Anus - Rome: Total War 001

Triumphant Return?

Howdy, folks!

As none of you may know, I'm uploading again!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEZW5jYDBUo

It's been a busy year -- almost two.  I've come into college as a Freshman promising to keep myself actively uploading.  One video later, I'm now a Sophomore!  That didn't work as planned, eh?

I'm not the biggest fan of pursuing YouTube as a career.  I've always been a fan of the whole "Jack of All Trades" mindset, getting into as many fields and developing as many skills as I can manage.  I wanted to learn how to edit audio and video, and I love video games.  So boom, I started a Let's Play.  Not too popular, but I didn't care.  I wanted the criticism and praise, the education.

First person to subscribe and comment on a video, a day or two after I posted my first episode of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl: http://www.youtube.com/user/ElektraMode

And the praise came first!  In fact, not much criticism came from folks other than myself.  I wanted to make myself sound more awake and mumble less, wanted to balance audio and improve video quality.  And eventually I managed to get into a groove.

I started my Hitman: Blood Money series, another favorite game of mine, and it has since become my most popular series at about 1,500 views per video as of writing this.

My big boom came shortly after The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released.  I was the first person to find a way around a game-breaking bug, and posted a video explaining my technique.

This video pretty much quadrupled my subscriber count, and still constitutes about 90% of my video views. It's hovering at 188,000 now, having slowed down a lot since a patch was released.  But still, it introduced many new people to me, and me to many new people.

College began, and videos all but disappeared.  I released a Gears of War 3 piece recorded with friends, and I was proud of how it turned out.  Certainly was fun to record:

It's been a blast, and I hope I stick around this time.  That last video includes another broken promise at the end, and if I can, I'll not let that happen again.  I may not be a daily uploader, but I'll do what I can to be a good uploader.

Thank you all, and let me know how you've been this past year!

I'm Getting a Capture Card!

Howdy folks,

I've already mentioned this in the description of a recent video, but I am acquiring a capture card for my Xbox 360!  To put it simply, controllers kick ass in terms of comfort no matter how much better PC gaming is.  So nobody hate me, damn it. xD

I'll also probably not mention this blog for a while, seeing as I have very little freedom this time of year.

Wish me luck,

I Have a Blog?

Howdy folks and folkettes,

I figure that I've got plenty more than YouTube videos to bestow upon you, so lo and behold: a blog!  My ultimate goals as a YouTuber are to have a decent community whom I can entertain and inspire and, should I ever get to such a level, to possibly do charity fundraising.  Yay!

That is all far off, though.  For now, this is a blog --  I may or may not put bloggy things on it, but it certainly will allow everyone to keep in touch with me and have an easy bookmark. :D
